Everyone in favor of punching Virion in his slimy backstabbing arrogant dusty musty crusty face, say "I". In other news, Queen Elora is special and beautiful and perfect and I love her.
Wow. I didn't know why I hadn't encountered this one till now. I loved what you wrote, and the ROs are all likeable. I do have a few gripes, though... like the interaction between MCs and their family; it was short and abrupt and to the point. I mean, it's hard for me to care much for the mom and especially the dad when there's so little interaction between them.
I also feel like MC's background(from childhood to young adult) seems... lacklustre. Probably because of the dad being a barely active father. It does seem odd though... like the dad wants to be better, yet he was written differently. His behaviour doesn't make sense.
Other than that, everything else seems good. I went for the prince(highest romance points) but flirted with the captain guard whenever I could and noticed a jealousy scene(the outing to the food stalls). Do others also have these jealous scenes? I haven't played other routes hence the question.
Thank you so much for playing! I am currently revising Part 1 (prologue and chapters 1 - 3), so there is a few more scenes with the MC's father. The idea is that the MC's father doesn't know how to be a good father - the curt way he treats the MC is because he doesn't know how to show emotion.
The family scenes are short - because it's written this way. The parents aren't happy-go-lucky parents and Ahlf will never change his ways, regardless of how much he wants to. He's a stoic person and is bad at showing emotions. The scene with the mother is short because of plot reasons- she left the MC and that's the basis of the MC's memories of her. It's more to show that the MC has no choice on how everything happens especially with their parents. The new scenes should give a better read for childhood to teen years since it comes between them.
The others don't have jealousy scenes because it's still too early in the relationship 😊 Either way, Prince Irus is the most jealous and the others aren't really jealous, so there might not be much jealousy scenes with them.

I loved family interactions a lot, and I was pleased to see that there are surviving members of MC's family that she could still interact with(the uncle, grandma, and cousin), hoping there would be more interactions between them. It's why I felt like there should be more interactions between MC and the father, IMO-- regardless of whether the player chose to be antagonistic or wanted the father to be a dad. I guess I could understand regarding the mother part having less interaction.
I could totally see the queen and the captain guard being the least jealous type, though(lol). It would be hard to write jealous scenes for them unless MC does something outrageous 😅
Anyway, I can't wait for the next chapter(and the revision)!
I keep liking it more whenever there's an update. It keeps getting better and make me to get excited for the next update. I keep choosing the queen and I don't know why. She's just so adorable for me. And the prince is more like a best friend type for me ^.^ I don't know maybe because It's too common to be coupled with someone who's the plot or something. I don't normally like fantasy as a genre, but this is quite well written. But the game somehow assumes the MC is a lot closer to the prince than they are when I play anything other than straight up hostile. The out of character moments are completely bringing me out of the game. I was playing a detached and reserved character who blames the prince for being part of the oppression and murder. But because I didn't choose anything overly emotional, the prince suddenly acts like they're besties once they arrive at Vinia. Which wouldn't be an issue; it'd be fun if he's being presumptuous. But the problem is that the MC acts like it's true. Hoping you'll look into this issue.
Hi, thank you for your comment! Unfortunately, as the game is quite character focussed, I spent most of it writing close reactions with Irus opposed to the hostile relationships. If your relationship is hostile (under 50), it will be coded in when I start edits 😊 So it's not an issue, rather that I didn't code in the necessary hostile reactions because of time constraints.
The dialogue options where it's a link-reveal (you click a link to reveal text) will always be treated as if you've asked them and gotten answers because it's really just a lore/info dump that is necessary for the plot but also can be skipped for replays. So if there's a link with 'End your questions' it means that it's assumed you've asked those questions. However, if this happens elsewhere, please let me know 🙂
i'm fond of all the characters, while i'm not entirely interested in romancing Oren or Irus (cos i'm very sapphic) i really liked them as friends and characters, i also am crushing hardcore on Elora so i'm excited to see where this goes ^_^

SOOO AMAZING!! I have spent my saturday just reading this story for hours, and I must confess, I am absolutely in love with Irus. I mean, how can I not?? Really heartbreaking what happened to the main characters family, but after finishing chapter 2 it seems like it's going to hopefully be okay, since they are not alone anymore! I have also read The Hedge Witch, which is how I found this story, and I am so glad I did, because this brilliant story is my favorite now! I am now going to wait patiently for chapter 3!

Hi, I'm really loving this so far (especially Irus!), but is there any chance you could add flirt options for an MC who is more stoic? My male MC is stoic/acerbic and intro but confident and 'unwillingly' attracted to the Ro/s, but the existing flirting options always feel really out of character for him - the shy/intro flirt (he's not shy), or the flirtatious/brazen flirt (he's not flirtatious) - when often the more 'denying how I feel' or 'deliberately being an unpleasant ass because I really hate how I'm unexpectedly feeling right now' option which would suit him better is not a flirt and gives friendship/normal responses. I realise this may be asking a lot, but is there a chance an additional 'flirt' option could be added to accommodate a character who shows their interested in a less obvious way (like, instead of blushing they get annoyed or snippy), with the RO/s catching on and teasing it out of the MC in their own way? Also, how tall is the prince? because there is a moment where it mentions him tipping my MC's chin up to look in his eyes (when I tried a shy flirt) and I have my MC's height set to 'very tall'.
Thank you so much for playing 😊 I do realise that the flirt options are lacking in the variations of choices - I just went with shy/flirty choices because they were the easiest to start off with and write. I do hope to add more variations to the flirting choices when the first draft of the game is completed, since I also know others want a friendly flirt option as well 🙂 this is simply because of coding and writing the different variations would take up a bit more time and I hope to finish the first draft before going back to polish up and add in variation scenes.
Do keep in mind though that you don't need to flirt with the ROs to gain romance points. You will be given clear choices of who you like (like at the end of chapter 2) and that, combined with your friendship stat will determine the outcome of pursuing a romance 🙂
Irus in game height is the tall option, so even though he and MC might both be tall, Irus will still be slightly taller than them by a few centimetres at most 😊
Thanks for replying! I'm really glad to hear you're considering offering some more flirt options for MC's with different dispositions.
I felt my MC was quite naturally guided into the stoic & confident personality, chiefly because of the whole growing up alienated by everyone in the village and never really 'clicking' with his dad (both of them having personalities that are not the easiest to get along with), but having a strong survival instinct and having no one else to really lean on, trusted in himself (and yeah, he's lonely af, but he buries that deep deep down under many layers of denial). It ended up fostering an MC who knew what they wanted (at least goal-wise) but was really not used to dealing with being interested in someone romantically, and being completely out of his depth if/when someone actually showed an interest in him, so naturally diverted to what he was comfortable with: acting like a stoic/cold b*stard. The sort of guy who seems like he'd rather be anywhere else but beside the RO, and yet the next minute would risk his life for them (cos deep down he's just relieved he's not alone, and that the RO hasn't already left his sorry ass, but he's kind of socially stunted and way too afraid of being vulnerable and hurt to admit how he feels). ANYWAY...
As you can probably tell, I got quite invested in this story thus far, hence why I thought I'd ask if a 'stoic/unflirty' flirt could be added. On that topic, I also really love me some sexual tension ramping up between characters, particularly when one (or both) are unwilling to admit how they feel/what they want. That's always fun to read!
Since posting my last message I also tried out Oren and the Queen, and they both seem really interesting so far, too. The sparring session with Oren was great! I'm looking forward to finding out more about both of them and pursuing them in parallel playthroughs in future. :)
I really want players to be able to play a character they feel most comfortable with 😊 Thank you for letting me know more about your MC, because it really helps when coming up with choices in game.

There is an error in the scene where Irus bandages your injury. The last two options (drawing your hand away or snatching your hand away) both lead to the same scene, intended for snatching your hand away.
Small bug: When in Dark Mode, every entry in the Codex save for Salt Bay is still in black text, rather than the white text used elsewhere. Salt Bay displays properly, but Ishari, The Blood Guard, and The Ancient Ones all have black text for the entries themselves - difficult to read on a dark background.

This is a very interesting beginning, would love to see where it goes. I have to agree with LightningMaestro, though, but not on "all options" - there are some conflict moments here and there.
Very good - quite enjoyed what's available so far. One thing I noticed in particular with a lot of the 'choose your emotional reaction' segments, though: All of the options are single, unified responses. What I mean by that is that there doesn't seem to be any with two emotions or an emotional conflict - despite the situation being very complicated and the MC at the time being a child. It seems like it would be normal to be both scared of a newly introduced father as well as to want to get to know him - or to be hurt/sad and resentful at the ostracization brought on by the townsfolk - etc. I understand that would add a lot of writing to put all variations of that in, but just something that stood out to me.

The one thing critique I would give it, is that the background is not mobile friendly with how similar the font color is to it. It could be just my phone not wanting to completely load everything. Don't get me wrong, I'm still trying to read it by highlighting the words, but with bad eyes it's hard to read. Maybe have an option to switch to a dark mode, or darken the font a bit, if it is possible. I will refresh my phone to see if anything loads more.
Hmm that sounds a bit odd. The background colour is white and I've added in a plain white background, if the background image doesn't work. The regular font is black, with only the links being a yellow/gold colour. If you could let me know what colour the font is - is it showing up a different colour or is it the gold colour that's hard to see? On my end, it works as it should.
I will try adding in a dark mode - my coding skills is still a little lacking, so I'll do my best 🙂
For me the font color is like an off white, and is almost blending in with the white background. There's nothing stopping me from reading this when I can get to the library with my laptop, so there's no rush. I just need to take into consideration that I'm having troubles with my cellphone provider ever sense they switched to a 5G network earlier this year. Things are probably not loading correctly because of it.

Hopefully, with the next update, I should have a working dark theme so you'll be able to play from your phone.

Hi, I'm really loving this so far (especially Irus!), but is there any chance you could add flirt options for an MC who is more stoic? My male MC is stoic/acerbic and intro but confident and 'unwillingly' attracted to the Ro/s, but the existing flirting options always feel really out of character for him - the shy/intro flirt (he's not shy), or the flirtatious/brazen flirt (he's not flirtatious) - when often the more 'denying how I feel' or 'deliberately being an unpleasant ass because I really hate how I'm unexpectedly feeling right now' option which would suit him better is not a flirt and gives friendship/normal responses. I realise this may be asking a lot, but is there a chance an additional 'flirt' option could be added to accommodate a character who shows their interested in a less obvious way (like, instead of blushing they get annoyed or snippy), with the RO/s catching on and teasing it out of the MC in their own way?
Also, how tall is the prince? because there is a moment where it mentions him tipping my MC's chin up to look in his eyes (when I tried a shy flirt) and I have my MC's height set to 'very tall'.
Thank you so much for playing 😊 I do realise that the flirt options are lacking in the variations of choices - I just went with shy/flirty choices because they were the easiest to start off with and write. I do hope to add more variations to the flirting choices when the first draft of the game is completed, since I also know others want a friendly flirt option as well 🙂 this is simply because of coding and writing the different variations would take up a bit more time and I hope to finish the first draft before going back to polish up and add in variation scenes.
Do keep in mind though that you don't need to flirt with the ROs to gain romance points. You will be given clear choices of who you like (like at the end of chapter 2) and that, combined with your friendship stat will determine the outcome of pursuing a romance 🙂
Irus in game height is the tall option, so even though he and MC might both be tall, Irus will still be slightly taller than them by a few centimetres at most 😊
Thanks for replying! I'm really glad to hear you're considering offering some more flirt options for MC's with different dispositions.
I felt my MC was quite naturally guided into the stoic & confident personality, chiefly because of the whole growing up alienated by everyone in the village and never really 'clicking' with his dad (both of them having personalities that are not the easiest to get along with), but having a strong survival instinct and having no one else to really lean on, trusted in himself (and yeah, he's lonely af, but he buries that deep deep down under many layers of denial). It ended up fostering an MC who knew what they wanted (at least goal-wise) but was really not used to dealing with being interested in someone romantically, and being completely out of his depth if/when someone actually showed an interest in him, so naturally diverted to what he was comfortable with: acting like a stoic/cold b*stard. The sort of guy who seems like he'd rather be anywhere else but beside the RO, and yet the next minute would risk his life for them (cos deep down he's just relieved he's not alone, and that the RO hasn't already left his sorry ass, but he's kind of socially stunted and way too afraid of being vulnerable and hurt to admit how he feels). ANYWAY...
As you can probably tell, I got quite invested in this story thus far, hence why I thought I'd ask if a 'stoic/unflirty' flirt could be added. On that topic, I also really love me some sexual tension ramping up between characters, particularly when one (or both) are unwilling to admit how they feel/what they want. That's always fun to read!
Since posting my last message I also tried out Oren and the Queen, and they both seem really interesting so far, too. The sparring session with Oren was great! I'm looking forward to finding out more about both of them and pursuing them in parallel playthroughs in future. :)

There is an error in the scene where Irus bandages your injury. The last two options (drawing your hand away or snatching your hand away) both lead to the same scene, intended for snatching your hand away.

Small bug: When in Dark Mode, every entry in the Codex save for Salt Bay is still in black text, rather than the white text used elsewhere. Salt Bay displays properly, but Ishari, The Blood Guard, and The Ancient Ones all have black text for the entries themselves - difficult to read on a dark background.

This is a very interesting beginning, would love to see where it goes. I have to agree with LightningMaestro, though, but not on "all options" - there are some conflict moments here and there.

Very good - quite enjoyed what's available so far. One thing I noticed in particular with a lot of the 'choose your emotional reaction' segments, though: All of the options are single, unified responses. What I mean by that is that there doesn't seem to be any with two emotions or an emotional conflict - despite the situation being very complicated and the MC at the time being a child. It seems like it would be normal to be both scared of a newly introduced father as well as to want to get to know him - or to be hurt/sad and resentful at the ostracization brought on by the townsfolk - etc. I understand that would add a lot of writing to put all variations of that in, but just something that stood out to me.

The one thing critique I would give it, is that the background is not mobile friendly with how similar the font color is to it. It could be just my phone not wanting to completely load everything. Don't get me wrong, I'm still trying to read it by highlighting the words, but with bad eyes it's hard to read. Maybe have an option to switch to a dark mode, or darken the font a bit, if it is possible. I will refresh my phone to see if anything loads more.
Hmm that sounds a bit odd. The background colour is white and I've added in a plain white background, if the background image doesn't work. The regular font is black, with only the links being a yellow/gold colour. If you could let me know what colour the font is - is it showing up a different colour or is it the gold colour that's hard to see? On my end, it works as it should.
I will try adding in a dark mode - my coding skills is still a little lacking, so I'll do my best 🙂
For me the font color is like an off white, and is almost blending in with the white background. There's nothing stopping me from reading this when I can get to the library with my laptop, so there's no rush. I just need to take into consideration that I'm having troubles with my cellphone provider ever sense they switched to a 5G network earlier this year. Things are probably not loading correctly because of it.

Hopefully, with the next update, I should have a working dark theme so you'll be able to play from your phone.
